Rachel Butterfield Staff Profile

Rachel has taught in both mainstream and special schools, working with children from nursery age up to college age.  Before training as a Teacher, Rachel worked as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant and Teaching Assistant.  She also worked in residential homes for children with significant SEMH needs.

Whilst a Teacher, Rachel also became a SENCo, Designated Safeguarding Lead and LAC Coordinator. Rachel has experience supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs relating to SEMH/behaviour; cognition and learning; communication and interaction; and sensory and physical needs.

Rachel has post graduate qualifications including the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) and Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET). She is currently working towards gaining a Masters in SEND with her dissertation focusing on SEMH needs.

With three boys of her own, Rachel leads a busy life as a working mum. She enjoys watching her boys play sport and researching ways to continue to support children with a range of SEN.
