Woodlands GCSE Results

Students at Woodlands school are rewarded for their incredible efforts

Woodlands School Year 11 students have completed their GCSE and Level 2 studies after, arguably, one of the most challenging times for young people in the UK and the world over. It is with this in mind that we celebrate the successes of every young person who has left us with qualifications that will take them onto their chosen next steps.

Our school prides ourselves in offering a wide range of support and opportunities for our students to enable everyone to strive for success in everything they aim to achieve.

We are on an exciting journey for the development and growth of our school, and our Year 11 family have been a credit to the school and community. Their outcomes show that even through difficult times, determination and strength really pays off.

Headteacher at Woodlands School, Julia Taylor added, “This year at Woodlands a key focus has been to ensure that our pupils leave school with skills that will support them on their life’s journey and enable them to contribute to their communities and to society as a whole. For the first time we have offered a qualification in Motor Vehicle maintenance and all the pupils who followed that course have all gained a Level 1 pass. Some of them hope to study this further at college. We wish every single one of our pupils the greatest success in their next steps.”

Notable achievements: We are particularly proud of Jackson, who found school a struggle when he was younger but, through building positive relationships with all the staff at Woodlands and making the commitment to complete his GCSE in Catering, has successfully completed year 11 knowing he has the qualifications necessary to become a chef. Jackson has completed work experience in a restaurant in Shrewsbury, attending for 2 sessions a week, getting glowing references for his attitude and effort to his work. He hopes to complete an apprenticeship in Catering, and we know he will be a great addition to any busy kitchen.

Callum has shown determination and commitment to finish his time at Woodlands with a great set of completing his GCSE in catering, achieving a level 2 pass; as well as gaining GCSEs in English. Maths, Biology and a Level 1 award in motor vehicle studies. Callum intends to study at college and, in spite of being a very skilled chef and motor vehicle technician, is considering becoming a social worker!
